Ba Methodist Saints Upset FSSRL Under-15

History was rewritten at the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League Vodafone Trophy under-15 grand final, as Ba Methodist Saints surprised everyone by defeating QVS Knights 20-6 at Prince Charles Park yesterday.

This marked the first-ever appearance of the Ba-based school in the grand final, triumphing over one of Fiji’s powerhouse secondary school rugby league teams.

Wise told the Fiji Times:

“Today, history was made, and all glory goes to God. I am deeply thankful to God for blessing us with this victory,” exclaimed Wise.

“It’s a day we’ll always cherish. I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the school principal, teachers, parents, Tony Meicavainabula, guardians, Netava Rarokoliwa Tora, Daniel O’Neill, and our supporters for their unwavering support throughout our journey,” added Wise.

This victory also signifies the first time a Western Secondary School team has clinched the Under 15 grade title.

In other matches, QVS Knights secured victory in the U17 grand final by defeating Marist Storm 28-22. Additionally, Naitasiri Warriors emerged victorious in the open girls’ category, prevailing over Wainimala with a score of 22-18.

Meanwhile, in the main U19 final, Naitasiri Warriors caused an upset by defeating traditional champions Ba Pro 20-18.
