KARAWALEVU DEDICATES WIN TO PARENTS

Vodafone Fiji Bati Rugby League World Cup debutant, Vuate Karawalevu said he had been waiting for this day to happen, the day he gets to don the national Fiji Bati jersey and make his family proud.

The 21 year-old Dravuwalu, Kadavu lad said he is grateful for the opportunity to be able to play for his country today, an opportunity he will always cherish in the years to come.

“I thank the coaching staff for believing in me and trusting me,” Karawalevu said.

“I really looked forward to today’s game, playing with the senior players in the team, especially those who have been playing in the NRL, I’ve always been watching them on television and today, I was playing alongside them. What a privilege it was for me.”

Karawalevu added not only did he play for his country today, the thought of his parents were on the back of his mind.

“My parents have always been my greatest supporter. They’ve been with me all throughout my rugby league journey and I want to dedicate today’s win to them,” he said.

“I know they watched the game, and I am super proud that we got to win today, the match where I also made my debut for the Rugby League World Cup.”
